Reaching Out
While Grace Lutheran is a faith family, it doesn’t mean we only think about ourselves! We take seriously the words of Jesus to love God by loving our neighbors. If you are interested in helping with any of the following, please contact us!
Reaching out at Grace Lutheran happens year round with programs like these:
–We reach out to our homeless neighbors being served by New HOPE in Ontario the third Friday of every month, offering hygiene supplies to those who live outside.
–We reach out to homeless neighbors in San Bernardino at Central City Lutheran Mission by providing meals every other month (March, May, July, September, November).
–We collect book donations (preferably children’s books, but happily accept any) for Kids Come First in Ontario and Central City Lutheran Mission in San Bernardino.
–Every February, we collect canned soup for our annual “SOUP-ER BOWL” Sunday to donate to New Hope in Ontario.
–We have an annual Sock Hop to collect socks for poor children in the Upland School District, especially for the winter time when shoes get wet (so they can have dry socks during the school day). In 2013 we collected over 700 socks!
–Every Fall we collect bags of food that are given to different agencies in Upland to help hungry people during Thanksgiving. We call these Bags O’ Love.
–We’ve partnered with the Kiwanis in Upland to help provide food bags to homeless kids in our school district so that they can have food at home on the weekends (when other services are not available).
–Blankets are collected twice a year for the homeless in our area.
–We collect materials for Lutheran World Relief’s health and hygiene kits. These are sent throughout the world to areas hit hard by disaster.
